PHOTO TOOLBOX · PRACTICAL GUIDE
Compress iPhone photos without losing your original
A smaller file is easier to send. Start with the size you need, then check the result before saving.
1. Choose and crop
Open the compression tool and select a photo. Crop away anything you do not need before adjusting export settings. Keep your original.
2. Adjust size and quality
Reduce the longest edge for smaller displays. For JPEG, lower quality gradually and inspect text, edges and shadows in the preview. PNG is useful for graphics but is not always smaller.
3. Check before sharing
Compare the exported file size and details. Compression can lose information; no fixed reduction is guaranteed. Basic compression is free. iOS exports JPEG, PNG and HEIC; the web supports JPEG, PNG and WebP.
